The road of entrepreneurship can prove to be difficult, wrought with peril and pitfalls as any person who has started a new business will be able to attest. Many are forced to learn the path to success the hard way, through trial and error.

The Southeast Economic Development Fund (SEED$) is working to make that path toward success easier. SEED$ was born out of East Missouri Action Agency and is based in Park Hills, counting the counties of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Iron, Madison, Perry, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, and Washington in its territory. The organization was formed to help startup and expanding businesses create and save jobs in low-income communities.

SEED$ will be holding a special training event featuring Lean Startup.

Lean Startup is a nationally recognized program that works to improve the process it takes to create and launch successful small business. The Lean Startup Basics, which is what SEED$ is promoting, introduces entrepreneurs to the tools to minimize risk by systematically building products customers want. This process provides innovative philosophies to improve the process in which start-ups and existing enterprises launch products and build commerce across the globe.

The Lean Start-Up Basics will be held at the SEED$ offices in Park Hills on October 21, 23, 28, and 30 starting each night at 6 p.m. The SEED$ offices are located at 5 Municipal Dr. Park Hills (the old train depot). Call (573)-431-4296 by October 10 to reserve a spot.
